Hi guys.
I have the perennial "icons not showing" problem in Win 7 (64 bit.)
Now, please, don't post the "usual answers" (View, thumbnails instead of icons, etc.)
I've cleared the thumbnail cache, but all to no avail.
The situation is this:
I have numerous hard disks (27Tb over 14 individual drives - I am a photographer / videographer, so have millions of graphic files.)
On power up, everything in Explorer looks fine. I can navigate to any folder, and see the files as thumbnails ok (Mainly CR2 files.)
After, maybe 30 minutes or so of editing in Photoshop (I don't know if that is relevant), the thumbnails disappear, only to be replaced by icons.
The only thing that seems to help it (For about 10 minutes) is to stop explorer in processes and restart it.
I've tried running the 32bit version of explorer, and it's the same.
I've tried a reg hack I read about, which supposedly increases the size of the thumbnails cache, but that hasn't helped.
I'm assuming this is something to do with cache size, etc, rather than any config issue with Windows, because it works for the first 20-30 minutes ok.
The thumbnails also work in Bridge and Lightroom, although I'm thinking they use a different process?
Any ideas beyond the normal?
