Windows 11 update (installed 10/11/2023) killed my laptop

Two days ago, I tried installing the latest Windows update on my home laptop, an Acer Windows 11 machine. I started it so it would run overnight, but when I got up the next morning, my drive fan was running non-stop and the screen was showing a BSOD with a QR code on it. The bottom of the screen was flickering with garbage colors. The BSOD showed the completion percentage of the update and said it was trying to find a fix, but I got the impression it had been that way all night.
