windows 11 not recognising android phone via cable

Never had any trouble connecting my android phone to my Win 10 PC, Now I have new laptop and cannot get it to connect to my phone. I have tried rebooting , multiple cable / ports. Android phone will charge when connected to Win11 PC but no dialogue box is imitated on connection.
