Windows 11 does not display my hard drive in the Disk Manager

I'm trying to use an external hard drive with my laptop but it is not showing up in the File Explorer. I looked at its properties and it is showing up as enabled but when opening Disk Manager, it does not appear. If I go to Settings > System > Storage > Advanced Storage Settings > Storage Spaces, it appers there; however, if I go to "Where new content is saved, the har drive does not appear as an option in any of the media options.
