Windows 11 constantly freezes: can't identify any reason why

For most of my machine's life it's been normal, more or less. However, after a windows reset (I tend to reset it every 2 or 3 years in case I've accumulated junk or suspicious files) it has started freezing. Usually the audio stops and becomes a ggrrnnnnn sort of sound as well as the screen becoming black, white or just freezing, before returning to normal within 2 or 3 seconds. It only happens occasionally, but usually once or twice a day.
