Windows 11 backup failure

I installed Windows 11 over Windows 10 and the backup function doesn't work but still works ok in my 2nd computer a Surface with I5, 256 storage and 8G Ram. Got a message informing me some components outdated and offer to fix. Worked until I restarted my machine.. Backing up is the golden rule and I'm seriously thinking of reverting to Windows 10. Any help appreciated.
