Windows 11 24H2 Update failures from 23H2 - Error 0x800736CC

I am using Windows 11, currently on 23H2 (build 22631.4602), with no devices or software that are known to cause a security hold. Windows 11 24H2 Update is frequently offered, but changes are reverted during the update process (after the second reboot). In addition, the update KB5035942 got (successfully) installed several times, every time that the 24H2 update failed.The desktop PC is part of an active directory domain.I tried the scansfc and DISM corrections, as described in many fora, as well as the reset / deletion of the Windows Update stack.I do not intend to make a fresh install of Wind
