Windows 10 upgrade from 1903 to 2004 fails with error 0x80070002

This is getting beyond a joke and I would greatly appreciate any guidance.


I've tried a number of things:

1) Ensured the system clock is upto date and correct / sync'd

2) SFC /scannow reported no errors

3) Running Win Update trouble shooter reports no problems

4) Stopped Win update service and cleared C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Downloads


5) Used the Update Asistant - same problem


6) Used the Media Creation Tool to upgrade insitu (ie Upgrade PC now) - same problem


7) Used the Vistual Agent to upgrade / trouble shoot

• Guided to Windows Update Reset Tool - Diagnostics did not show an problems
• Reset WU and Setting>Windows Update showed everything up to date and Feature update 2004 was available to download and install
• Which I did and then failed again andthen was guided to download SetupDiag.exe and Err_6.4.5.exe
