Windows 10 upgrade failed and having rolled back to Win 7 windows now thinks my version is...

Hi


I bought this HP laptop second hand, with Win 7 already installed. I have had no issues with it for 2 years. Then when I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 the upgrade failed part way through and rolled back.


Tried again, failed again.


Now I am getting the message that my version of windows is not genuine. Product key is on the bottom of the laptop but is rubbed off so as to be unreadable.


What can I do (other than install Linux!!).
