Windows 10 Pro - can't access linked digital licence after motherboard change

Starting point - Desktop PC running Windows 10 Pro retail licence named, let's say, (not really) "MyPC". Not Windows 11 compatible. 16MB memory - this detail is useful later. NB this is a retail licence NOT an OEM licence so I would expect it to be transferrable. Activation status BEFORE upgrade - "Windows is activated with a digital licence linked to your Microsoft account" I installed a new motherboard (and increased to 32MB memory) and Windows now says it is not activated. I went through the activation troubleshooter, and selected the option for 'I have recently changed hardware on this
