Today after logging on I had a message that AMD needed to update the driver on my Windows 10 Hewlett Packard.
Reluctantly I agreed and set the process running.
After 1/2 an hour it was obvious that the process was stalled, as my screen was black and not responding.
After much trial and error I found that the only way to get the machine to respond was to try and restart the machine, but cut it off early and try again. On the third attempt the machine would go into the auto diagnose phase and give me the options to restore etc.
I've decided to try and enter safe mode and remove the driver and reinstall the old one.
Ok so I selected the safe mode option. Initially I had no reaction to this and the machine wouldn't restart at all. Then foe some reason later on the safe mode decided to activate.
I'm now at the point where I've selected safe mode, the computer reboots and I get to the login screen.
But my mouse and keyboard get no response.
I've changed the mouse and keyboard the wired versions that came with the computer. No change.
I've moved the USB plugs to each USB port and tried rebooting but still no change.
Should I persevere with this or should I attempt to do a system reinstall instead. Would this change the AMD driver back to the old one that was causing no problem?
