Recently I have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and just a few days ago my I lost Wifi connection which was being provided through my Cell phone acting as a hot spot. I would connect to the phone but with Limited connection only. After much searching and scratching my head I have found out this and it worked for some reason.
I'd love to know why this works and is Microsoft working on a solution?
Press Windows key+x
select Network connections
Right click Wireless Connections
click Internet Protocol Ver 4 (TCP/ IPV4) CLICK properties
Click use the following IP address
IP 192.168.1.101
sub 255.255.255.0
DG 192.168.1.1
DNS
preferred DNS 192.168.1.1
Alt DNS 218.248.240.23
click validate settings upon exit..
close the windows..
The computer opens a screen where it is checking the settings..
ERRORS out.. and setting don't work.. So I go back to Network Connections and right click on Wireless connections then again click on Internet Protocol Ver 4 (TCP/IPV4) and select properties ... now setting obtain IP address automatically also make sure DNS is set automatically.. click validate settings.. and close Windows and at least on my system I was able to Surf the web. So far I've had to repeat this process at least one time and I'd like to know why this works. and what is really going on with Windows 10 and Wireless Network.. Hope this helps.
