I had a Windows 10 Pro license installed on my current laptop. I bought a new laptop and tried to transfer the windows license to my new laptop, because I want to give away my old laptop and keep the license. I have a Retail windows license which should allow transfer from one computer to another.

I used this article to do the transfer: How to transfer a Windows 10 license to a new PC or hard drive | Windows Central.

Executed these commands on my current laptop:

slmgr /upk

slmgr /cpky

This removed the license successfully from my current laptop.

When I try to enter the same windows key to my new laptop, with following command: slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx I get this message:

Additional info: When I go to the Activate windows page on my current laptop it seems my windows is still activated:

..but then I open System from Control panel is displays as not activated, which makes sense, because I removed the license.

If anyone had some similar issues please share. Thanks in advance.
