I have a windows 10 PC (HP 260-p026). After a windows update on 11/14-11/16, the keyboard input is no longer working. I have tried several keyboards both wired/wireless in several usb ports. Nothing works. I have go through tons of steps on here to try and fix this. another thing is some windows don't allow you to move or resize them and the close button doesn't work. They can still be closed through the task bar. I have noticed it mainly the explorer windows and the onscreen keyboard that have this problem. Google chrome and cmd can be moved without problem and closed easily.
Steps tried and results
System restore - restored but broke the wdfltr.sys file making it unable to boot. Fixed that by restoring the file from another windows 10 pc. Got the system to turn back on without problems now but still no keyboard.
checked filter keys, its off.
From here on everything has been ran through the hidden Administrator account on windows 10 having to use a virtual keyboard.
Device manager - Unable to create new file
Tried the regsrv32 Msxml.dll fix (xml and xml2 are not found, xml3 did its thing but still no mmc)
Update drivers - still not working
run chkdsk - no problems
run sfc /scannow at 10% gives the resources error. Tried in safe mode.
tried the dism
/checkhealth shows no corruption completed successfully
/scanhealth fails at 30.9% error 4448
The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's resource table
(log created)
/restorehealth fails at 23.1% error 4448
The WOF driver encounterd a corruption in the compressed file's resource table
(log created)
So what are the next steps without having to wipe the whole computer back to factory?
