Windows 10 key not working on another machine with Windows 11.

I've bought a Windows 10 Pro key (Retail version) about 5 years ago from a local retailer. I successfully activated Windows 10 Pro on my laptop with it. About a year ago I wiped it and installed Linux instead.Now I have a new PC with Windows 11 Pro. As far as I understand, I should be able to activate it with that key, right? But when I try to do so, I get an error: "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one (0x80041023)".I wanted to try activating by phone, but this option is not available. I also requested a callback from Microsoft
