Windows 10 installed, new upgrade keeps failing then re-downloading.

I upgraded to windows 10 in 2014. Last November 2015, the option to upgrade to newer version was offered. I accepted and since then every three to four weeks, Windows Update downloads over 2Gb of upgrade, but install fails. Sometimes install fails multiple times within a few days as Windows asks me to update/ restart at Close down. Troubleshooter cannot find a problem. How can I prevent this happening or can I cancel the upgrade which starts with the automatic updates?
