I am able to connect to Internet perfectly in my browser, but I found out recently that my Windows 10 stopped connecting to Internet since May 2016, it doesn't take updates, Cortana, Edge says not connected to Internet, Windows Defender says it can't update definitions. But my browser connects to Internet. I do not have any proxy set to my PC, and its not blocked anywhere in the hosts file.

I tried resetting my network adapters, flushing and resetting them, and I stopped and started the Windows update, BITS, Cryptographic services, which had no help in updating Windows 10. I do not use any Antivirus, other than Defender, I tried disabling Windows Firewall and tried connecting which also didn't help. I tried using the Command Prompt with net stop wuauserv and net start wuauserv and a few more commands which also didn't help.

I also tried installing the updates using the Offline method through IE, but the updates do not download at all and fail every single time. I also tried using the Windows 10 upgrade assistant, it downloads perfectly and says that downloading and then installing, but at last it breaks and says Restoring previous Windows.

I couldn't reinstall Windows 10 on my PC as I have lot of paid software installed, so please help me out in solving this.

Current Windows version: Windows 10 Pro N Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.104) x64 Bit

When I click Check for Updates, this is what I get:

'We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet.'
