I just had the system board replaced on my Lenovo Thinkpad P53s which runs Windows 10 Pro. When I try to connect to WiFi, it tells me to "Enter the network security key" because "Some information changed since the last time you connected. We need additional information to complete the connection." When I enter my Xfinity WiFi password, the computer attempts to connect and then gives me the same message again.
I repeatedly checked the WiFi password and confirmed that it is the one which all my other devices, including another Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, are running on. The computer is able to connect to a public WiFi network. It is also able to connect to my WiFi network if I tell it to "Forget" the network, restart the computer, and then connect to the network by pressing the button on the router. (I believed this is called WPS and it automatically sends the password to my computer). Then the computer cannot reconnect after a restart or shutdown. I can see the password saved in the computer settings but it doesn't matter. I have to tell it to "Forget," restart, and set up again with the button.
I ran several troubleshooters with no results, and also confirmed that all my drivers are up to date. I've also reinstalled Windows since this started happening, due to other issues related to the system board being replaced. I ran some commands in the command prompt that were suggested to fix network connection issues. Unfortunately, they had no effect and the network connection issue remains. Please can you help me narrow down the cause of this problem and possible solutions? I've seen some forums suggest uninstalling and reinstalling a network adapter, but I don't know how to do that and it sounds risky to me.
