I have 2 windows 10 computers & one windows 7 on my network all are set to private. In file Explorer, under network The 2 windows 10 machines can see each other, but neither of them can see the windows 7 on the network. The windows 7 machine can see both windows 10 computers and can access all shares. From both windows 10 computers I Ping Windows 7 both just time out.
Before the 2 windows 10 computers could see each other on the network, I had to go to Services and set "Function Discovery Provider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" To Automatic (Delayed Start). That solved the 2 windows 10 problems. I tried the same thing on the windows 7 computer but keep getting error when I try to start the "Function Discovery Resource Publication". Can not start this service on local machine.
I also tried on the windows 7 computer to reset the network system with:
admin cmd
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset rest.log hit
It came back successful restart computer, reboot win7 and still the same.
