Through my sound card line-in socket I use Audacity to record music onto computer. I monitor progress with speakers driven by the same sound card. If I then mute the line-in socket (NOT the volume control) using the W10 Volume Mixer / Speakers Properties / Levels facility the speakers are, indeed, muted. However, Audacity continues to receive the signal from the line-in socket and continues to record - i.e. the line-in socket has not, actually, been muted. This does not seem right to me and I do not recall this behaviour with W7.
I believe this has also caused problems by running a duplicate (parallel?) signal through the "What You Hear" volume control and lost me considerable time analysing why the sound was so confused. (Disabling the "What You Hear" control was my only successful option).
Any ideas Microsoft?
