Hello,

Out of nowhere, my PC is suddenly unable to boot. This morning, when I turned on my PC, I was greeted with the "Automatic System Repair" at boot. Initially, I tried to ignore it by "Exiting to Windows 10," but I am stuck in a loop where at each boot up, the Automatic System Repair screen populates.

One of the first things I tried to do was to restore the system to a system backup date. This didn't work. Then, I tried to do the automated repair. I cannot get this to work: I am presented with an error telling me it cannot complete the task, and directing me to a log file on the C:\ drive.

If I launch the command prompt to try to run the diagnostics provided by others with a similar issue, I am completely unsuccessful. Command prompt solutions require interfacing with the C:\ drive, but my command prompt points to an anomalous X:\ drive. If I try to run the diagnostics directly through this X:\ drive, they fail, saying they cannot locate the required files.

Sensing what seems like a major software, or hopefully not hardware, failure, I created a bootable USB stick to launch a fresh Windows install. However, my only other computer is a MacBook, so I created the USB media with Boot Camp Assistant.

My USB boot stick will not launch the Windows installer. Instead, when booting from the USB media, all I am presented with is a black screen with a blinking white underscore and no further instruction.

I am at a loss for what to do. Any help is very greatly appreciated: I urgently need my PC to get back on track.
