I have a laptop that has Windows 7 Pro (I have only the upgrade disks and it didn't come with anything like recovery disks or EVEN an owner's manual but that's what one gets when purchasing from H.P. direct).
I posted a few days ago as I kept getting a pop up saying that Windows was going to update to Windows 10 in 14 minutes unless I chose a later time.
MY "later time". A.K.A., NEVER, wasn't an option AND I didn't have my computer set for automatic updates as some cause huge issues (I used to code/program androids and windows products so I know better than to leave automatic updates on).
Not 5 minutes after posting for help my laptop shut down and started installing 10. I was FURIOUS!
I learned that one can revert back to 7 and today I started to do so. It didn't go well.
I had a Microsoft person on the phone for almost an hour going ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE with it...pushing various buttons and formations thereof.
I WAS, prior to calling Microsoft, able to get my name and icon on the start up BUT I rapidly realized that a driver that enables they keyboard if my laptop, including the mouse/pointer (whatever it's called these days) was not communicating with the system BUT THAT'S ONLY IN SAFE MODE... something I think is important to include in this PLEA for help).
I have been able to get it to where it KNOWS I have Windows 7 Pro in it and it keeps asking me to specify where and what drivers to install OR a system image (ALL of that turned to toast when Microsoft opted to DESTROY, MURDER, SLAY, GUT, KILL my computer and I had spent MONTHS tweaking the heck out it to make it PERFECT to my needs).
I can't get the thing to work and trust me...I'm NO stranger to programming...just never saw the likes of this.
The Microsoft support person told me to reformat the C drive...which I did. I don't know exactly what happened but reformatting wasn't what it did.
NOW it says that the start up bios are missing and to press "A/C/D". Of course, I've been doing that for 7 hours now and it's grown quite tiresome.
H.P. won't send me recovery disks...did I expect them to? No. I have a disdain for H.P. that goes back about 9 years when they destroyed my beautiful XP by turning it into a Vista and then later, charging me almost $6K for THIS one, for a custom build and it's nothing but off the shelf...I had to purchase MY OWN 7 Pro upgrade. It WAS supposed to come with everything as I was starting a new business... Instead they sent me what (then) cost about $899.00 over at Best Buy...they charged me just a pinch under $6,000.00 for.
I had a crippling accident before I ordered it...it was supposed to be my ticket to running a home based business as I was rendered unable to work. I ordeted a business computer and got THIS, which I argued about with H.P. for about 2 years. They REFUSED to replace it as I didnt know I got the wrong product as I was in surgeries for a good month and a half before unboxing it.
The point of that rather lengthy iteration is that H.P. is useless in providing help and today's talk with a Microsoft person left me WORSE off than I WAS!
She told me to reformat the C drive and it apparently caused FURTHER damage.
PLEASE HELP.
I'm sooo tired from this. I'm supposed to have another reconstructive surgery in two weeks and I don't have the patience to deal with this Microsoft nightmare!
I DID NOT WANT this stupid idiotic Windows 10!
What is WRONG with those people?! How DARE they destroys one's property like this!
Just please...tell me what to do.
My files and programs are still there... I can see them but don't have the drivers to run them and ONLY the Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc (which I paid on TOP of that $6K) another $300-$400 for...might be more..don't even remember. I just remember that I hate H.P. and they basically stole from me knowing I'd just been harmed in an accident and couldn't work... They took advantage of that and I've no respect for the likes if that kind of company.
NOW Microsoft sees fit to ruin things too. Unbelievable.
Please PLEASE advise!
