windows 10 22h2 no microphone or speaker detected (2/1/2023) (reposted)

Original post was locked. No solution was found, and the only suggestion was to "uninstall and scan for hardware changes" which was the first thing done on both PC's even before seeking the Microsoft forums. As it has been nearly two years and no new update has fixed the issue and I still do not have a speaker or microphone, I feel it is important to continue reminding Microsoft that forcing updates and not giving owners the choice as we had back in Windows 7 and 8 to add updates relevant to out PC is pathetic.
