Window 10 install stuck at logon window with spinning dots

I tried installing a Window 10 upgrade to a window 7 Vaio laptop. The Vaio is more than 10 years old and was working fine with window 7 until it recently started booting up to a black screen with a cursor. Ended up reloading the factory setting; which was a Vista then upgraded to win 7 home premium. After the upgrade, I tried to install win 10, the install process was okay, until after it boot up. After loading files, the screen would get stuck on the logo screen with dots spinning.

I tried almost everything I could find on the forum, including checking the bios, and start up repair.
