Win11 - Windows Media Player needs HEVC Video Extensions

Since moving to the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone, every video I record now cannot be played in the WMP that comes with Win11, due to it missing the necessary codecs. So it tries to take me to the Microsoft Store where it costs $0.99 to buy these HEVC Video Extensions.Why? Why hasn't WMP been updated to include these? I can use VLC or other high end graphics programs and it plays the videos just fine. So now I have all these new videos I have recorded that now can't be played using WMP, which is my "goto" video player. Any videos (.mp4) recorded using my older phone, works just fine
