Win11 laptop screen partially unresponsive to touchpad

Dell XPS 15 9510 Win11 Home fully updated.There is a strange intermittent behavior.. occasionally the left half of the laptop screen is unresponsive to touchpad left or right clicks (but the screen pointer can be moved with touchpad). The right part of screen is fully responsive.I tried a Bluetooth wireless mouse and the same issue. The "hang" time is variable but lasts typically a minute.Interestingly I can use the keyboard arrow keys to move from a highlighted folder on active right side of screen to the left side of screen and open and click folder contents with the touchpad.
