This morning, upon opening my system, a halo was visible over the task bar volume icon and a partial mouse pointer was positioned at screen bottom.
The pointer was immobile, separate and apart from the pointer controlled by touchpad.
The halo morphed into a rectangle and the volume menu popped up.
At this point, I ran MSFT security quick scan, which produced a negative result.
I then updated TrendMicro Housecall online scanner and disconnected from the web.
A Housecall quick scan produced a negative result.
A Housecall full scan is underway; at > 50% complete there is no positive result.
Both the halo and rectangle have disappeared, but the true pointer hovered above the sound icon and jittered.
The pointer then unfroze spontaneously.
Screenshots are attached; the pointer is not visible in either.
This machine is connected through known networks and has never accessed any questionable site.
Recently, it has been used to work on Wix site builder.
For me, this is new and worrisome territory. Thus far, I've found no explanation for these occurrences.
Please opine as to whether this is a virus or a glitch, and any means by which to resolve this issue.
Thank you.
