will not install microsoft.netframe framework

is downloaded but will not installon computer. never had any problems before
doing updates from microsoft has error code 0x643 does any one have a
solution to this problem microsoft.NET framework version 1.1 service pack 1
dell 8300 windows xp service pack 2 24july2007 cam f. at camf@cableone.net
