Will Microsoft ever master the art of remembering file associations?

My windows 10 is driving me absolutely nuts. It's not like I don't hate MS enough already, it still has to prove me right everyday that it deserves it.As of late it took a habit of forgetting file associations all the frigging time. I click a file, and it prompts me to pick which program will open the file. Absolutely disgraceful, since I already did this a couple of time, and it goes and forgets it again.Is there a fix for this annoying flaw? It's not like MS is not the king of flaws and bad design, but a person like me, who is very demanding (and possibly on the spectrum and easily irritable
