wifi adapter issue

Today I got a new wifi adapter for my PC as my old one got broken by my siblings while trying to move my pc to another room. I put it in and it seemed fine, then there was a pop up that said to push the WPS button on my router and there isn’t one that I can visibly see so I restarted the router and pressed a button that I’m pretty sure was the WPS button. Every time it says connecting it fails but I can still use the wifi but it’ll stop working every few minutes and stay off. Even on the wifi when I try to open an app the pop up telling me to push the WPS button will come up. I’ve followed you
