why won’t my second monitor connect?

i have 2 monitors and i’ve done everything i can think of even going to microsoft support and they did nothing for me. my HDMI cord is fine and working i know because i tried it. everytime i connect the hdmi to my second monitor my first one will black out and my second one won’t even display anything. someone give me some help.
