Why won’t my Microsoft account let me add a mobile phone number???

My Microsoft account won’t let me add a mobile phone number, it says an error and won’t let me add one. This has been a reoccurring issue since October of 2023 and has been frustrating knowing I can’t redeem my Microsoft rewards.
