Why won't my emoji keyboard match my typing?

Specifically on my web browser, Brave, my emoji keyboard will follow when I input a key, but it won't type the key that I just pressed. It will only follow the keyboard how it is laid out from start to finish (01234...qwerty...) when anything is pressed. If I open my notes application (both sticky notes and a .txt file) the emoji keyboard works fine. It works fine on discord as well. If I go to Microsoft Edge and type something in the hot bar it will have the same error.
