Why windows update is taking more then 5 hours?

Dear reader,2 problems:1The updates are frustrating.Always the laptop is updating for at least 1/2 hour.Today is is updating for 5 hours.I don't get is why almost every day a update is nessesary.Because it is a older laptop the system use during updates is about 85%Windows module instal worker is always slow. I use my older laptop still with Photoshop and i can watch 4K movies on it. So it is not the slowest machine.The amount and time to install the updates is frustrating.My next laptop wil be a Apple and this is only due to the updates.I been using windows from version 3.0 and up.
