Why is the search function within the Mail & Calendar app no longer working? Support for this does not end till December

I have been using the windows Mail & Calendar app for years but today, for some reason the search function no longer works?Even if i search key words from emails I know to have, it says no results. I have already tried resetting and then reinstalling the app. The issue remains.
