why is sound not working whenever laptop is open from sleep mode?

laptop does not play sound from video. This issue arises every time the laptop is 'awakened'? from sleep. When I click on an open tab then click play on the video that I was watching, there is simply no sound. I then opened Youtube, searched a random video to play and that also had no sound. I decided to click on the speaker icon (bottom left) and noticed that there was sound when I increased or decreased the volume. I proceeded to follow a bunch of online recommendations, which one had suggested I check if any servers needed updates, so i did that followed by having the restart the laptop, ac
