Why is my cursor going haywire?

This has happened to me multiple times. I'm doing something, everything's going as it should, and then my cursor doesn't do what I'm doing. It starts going in the opposite direction whenever I try to move it in one direction. It switches tabs and then performs every action possible on a trackpad when I try to move it around. This happens for about one minute and then returns to normal, but it's super annoying and I don't know what's happening. Does anyone know how to fix this? My device is a Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga.
