Why is Drive D not showing in 'This PC'

Can someone please tell me how to locate Drive D as it's not showing on my new laptop? I got a Asus laptop last week and I went to transfer some pics from my old laptop using a USB stick. But when I inserted it (I tried all 3 slots) nothing happened, drive D didn't appear. The USB stick is fine as I managed to copy from the old laptop and shows on someone elses laptop. I also tried a brand new USB just incase the older one was corrupted but it didn't show either. If it's not possible to get D Drive for whatever reason can someone please tell how to move loads of documents and pics to my ne
