why has my windows 11 key expired

i bought my pc 2 years ago as a prebuilt from asus thats was supposed to have a lifetime windows 11 key but it obiously has not. but i did have an issue where microsoft support made me reinstall windows and it happened to say i needed to reactivate windows a week after that. i am not sure what to do as i do not want to buy a new windows key. any help is appricated. thanks.
