Why has Activate windows watermark suddenly appeared?

For no reason that I can see the Activate Widows watermark appeared on the bottom right of my laptop screen. I followed the instruction go to settings and tried to activate but got this response "windows reported that no product key was found on your device error code 0XC004F213. I've gone round in circles, troubleshooting, rebooting the device to factory settings to start from scratch. I've left my number 3 times for a call back and heard nothing. I have a desk top using the same microsoft account and that is fine.
