Why does resetting the Movies and TV app cause my subtitles to disappear?

I recently reset my Movies and TV app and when I went to watch John Wick(a movie I purchased, with closed captions), the subtitles were not showing anymore. I have tried most of the solutions posted on different threads, but I was wondering if there were any other options in which I did not have redownload the movie everytime I reset the Movies and TV app.
