why do paste as a picture not show up in outlook sent folder

I often copy sections of an excel spreadsheet and paste them as a picture into outlook. When I try to look back at the pictures in my sent folder there is nothing there. I can see the rest of my email and the space that the paste took up is blank but I can't see the pasted image. Any help on this would be appreciated.
