Why do I have two user accounts on my computer? An Owner account and one with my name as a regular user?

I have no idea how it happened but I have two accounts with the same email, name and personal information; one is listed as the Owner and the other is listed as an Adult User account. Can I delete the Adult User account from my "family" on my computer? If I delete this account will it affect my Owner account?
