Why Are File Being Randomly Created on Exteral Drives on my Laptop?

Recently I have started a new job and am cleaning my work laptop (Surface Pro 7). This involved removing the OneDrive files from the previous company I had worked for.I had copied the entier OneDrive folder into an external SD for longterm storage/backup incase I ever needed those files again. Following that I uninstalled & restarted my machine.OneDrive was gone (thankfully) but what started happeneing was EVERY external drive I connected to my laptop now creates a random folder called "SSD name>OneDrive_Company>Pictures" with nothing in it.
