When I project from laptop to other laptop I only see gray screen with mouse

When I try to project the screen from one HP laptop to another HP laptop via the wireless screen feature I can only see a gray screen and mouse movement but cannot see any image. The projection was working properly until a few weeks ago. I have tried deleting the wireless screen from the devices and putting it back but I still have the same problem although the connection works. What could be the problem?
