When I open my laptop and get to the password input lock screen sometimes it doesn't take input from keyboard and after restarting from lock screen it

When I turn on my laptop the lock screen opens and then I get to the password input screen. But when I type the password to sign in the input box doesn't take any input and then I restart the system from lock screen. I get to password entering screen and then it takes input and works fine. This happens most of the times like 8 out of 10 times when I turn on my laptop.
