when I move numbered folders to another folder, some numbered folders do not have the same number when transfered and some do

I have a folder with 700 numbered folders. When I copy or cut some of the folders to move to a new folder, some of the original numbered folders go to the new folder are ok but some do not have the original numbered folder. Sometimes the number is different and sometimes both the number and description are different.I am 80 years old and not a computer expertThank you for a responsePaul
