When I am renaming a file, how do I prevent it from automatically selecting the entire text? Often I just want to change one character but this seems

Every time I go to rename a file with the new OS it automatically selects the entire file name. I will click in between the characters and then it will automatically select the entire text again making impossible to change one or two characters in the text.
