I only download high priority updates using the Automatic Updates setting in
Control Panel. When will these updates no longer be available via Windows
Update?

And
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/

Looking at the links that you sent, it looks like Windows Update support ends
on 4/8/2014 for Windows XP Home, for automatic updates. Or is it 4/48/2009?
If automatic updates only downloads security hotfixes, then I think the
4/8/2014 date would be correct.

It appears to me from the link http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/
that security updates continue through mainstream and extended support - 2014.

Only SP2 is supported. Support for both XP and XP SP1 have been dropped.
Also when SP3 comes out, the support for SP2 will change.
