What's so difficult about checking for errors prior to releasing software updates? MS has been doing this for decades

One of my pet peaves is finding that something in Windows that has previously worked fine, something that had to be learned, suddenly fails for no apparent reason, leaving the likely fault in the thoroughness of the new release error checking at MS. The most recent example today is the taskbar autohide facility, a boon, especially with a laptop where screen real-estate is precious. In order to temporarily maximise my screen area I dismiss the favorites bar, then later, want it back again, fine, something new to learn, Ctrl+Shift+B toggles the favorites bar.
